When starting to write a novel, a few places come to mind.
You could write it on a laptop, scrawl it in a notebook, or type it into a Google doc to make sure it’s definitely backed up.
JK Rowling has probably done all of the above. But she’s also written a book somewhere else that you probably weren’t expecting.
… In the lining of a party dress currently in the back of her wardrobe.
The Harry Potter author told CNN that she wrote the text across the dress that she wore to her 50th birthday party.
The theme of the party was to “come as your own private nightmare.”
“And I went as a lost manuscript. And I wrote over a dress most of that book.”
But fans of the author shouldn’t get too excited, because Rowling says she doesn’t know if the novel-in-the-dress will ever actually be published.
We’ll give her a few years.
