She is facing backlash.
It’s not every day that Kate Middleton does something to annoy a lot of people. In fact, she’s never really done anything to cause widespread offence. But, last night she came close to it after appearing at the BAFTAs.
Like The Golden Globes, guests at the BAFTAs decided to wear black to show their support for the Times Up movement. Unfortunately, Kate decided to opt for a different colour and people have taken offence to it.
Wearing a long green dress, she walked the red carpet with husband William.
People took to Twitter to vent about her choice of clothing.
kate middleton is annoying. such an important cause and all you had to do was wear black but of course the future queen wanted to look different from the commoners there

V.disappointed that Kate Middleton didn’t wear BLACK in solidarity with other women. I guess she wanted to look different to commoners, the proletariat that pay taxes to support her lifestyle! Shameful! #metoo #TimesUp #BAFTAs #EEBAFTAs pic.twitter.com/Elg36EGM2G

Kate Middleton shuns #timesup black dress code, clearly not a woman’s woman! #EEBAFTAs

There was so much criticism of her green dress that even Piers Morgan had to step in to take her side.
Duchess of Cambridge being abused by ‘feminists’ on Twitter for not wearing a black dress at tonight’s #BAFTAS.
Apparently, she’s not allowed to exercise HER feminist right to wear whatever colour dress she chooses. pic.twitter.com/dJrldJpBph— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) February 18, 2018
Other people have been quick to point out that members of the Royal family would not be allowed to dress in support of such movements.
People going mad that Kate Middleton didn’t wear black… The royal family can’t support political movements. Duh. #BAFTAs

People hurling abuse at Kate Middleton for not wearing black to the #BAFTAs need to remember that as a member of the Royal family, she can’t show support towards a political affiliation or bias.

I’ve seen an awful lot of vitriol being directed towards Kate Middleton for her choice of dress at the #BAFTAs. Her outfit was as black as she could get without her breaking royal protocol and shaming her and any other woman is surely the antithesis of the MeToo campaign.
