Katie Redford has apparently been targeted by trolls after being dropped from the Coronation Street cast.
The actress had been cast for the role of 14-year-old Bethany Platt but show bosses decided to replace her when they found out she was actually 25, not 19.
Her agent Jo McLintock has now revealed that, as a result of the scandal, Katie has been targeted by trolls.
“She has had horrific texts, emails and phone calls… It has backfired horrifically now,” she told the Birmingham Mail.
“Now she is distraught, really upset. There are some very jealous people out there. People are saying nasty things.”
McLintock added that it wasn't her client's decision not to disclose her real age: “It wasn’t Katie’s decision to do that, it was us.
“We said ‘if they ask you your age, just let them believe you are 19.’ It is common knowledge – people do that all the time.”
