Dunne follows in the footsteps of a number of global stars.
Irish actor Clare Dunne has been named among the European Shooting Stars for 2022.
Dunne, who has appeared in the series Kin and the film Herself, nabbed a spot on the prestigious list, which is put together by the European Film Promotion Agency.
The other actors that made this year’s list are Gracija Filipović (Croatia), Marie Reuther (Denmark), Anamaria Vartolomei (France), Emilio Sakraya (Germany) Hanna van Vliet (The Netherlands), João Nunes Monteiro (Portugal), Timon Sturbej (Slovenia), Evin Ahmad (Sweden) and Souheila Yacoub (Switzerland).
The stars will be honoured at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival on 14 February at the Berlinale Palast.
In naming Dunne among its selection, the agency said: “Clare Dunne creates complex and highly relatable characters through her profound understanding of the intricacies of the human mind. At once sophisticated, firm, and moldable, she succeeds in nuancing the female psyche.

“Her delivery of lines is very precise and her control of voice meticulous. In a very clever and well reflected manner, her performance communicates a deep sense of self-awareness and well-founded confidence.”
Reacting to the news, Dunne said that she was “so thrilled” to be part of the celebration.
She said: “I have always fantasised about the wonderful conversations and collaborations that must happen at this gathering, and I am buzzing to be part of it in 2022 with such an incredible array of talented people.
“So delighted and honoured. I cannot wait to be in Berlin.”
A number of Irish stars have already made the list in the past, including Fionn O’Shea (Normal People, Dating Amber), Elaine Cassidy (Harper’s Island, The Others), Moe Dunford (Vikings, Patrick’s Day), Aisling Franciosi (The Fall, The Nightingale), Domhnall Gleeson (Peter Rabbit, Run), Ruth Negga (Passing, Love/Hate) and Andrew Scott (Sherlock, Fleabag).
Other international stars who made the list in the past are Daniel Craig, Alicia Vikander and Carey Mulligan.
