Lewis Capaldi returned to Dublin after a two-year break, and it's safe to say the Scottish singer was welcomed warmly by his Irish fans.
Taking to the stage in Dublin's 3Arena, Capaldi was met with deafening cheers from the crowd.
The singer had barely played four songs when the crowd stopped him in his tracks with a ferocious round of applause, leaving the BRIT award winner speechless.
Capaldi's songwriting ability is obvious, but his genuine honesty and humble attitude are what make him someone so worthy of his success.
Opening the show with Survive, Capaldi had concert-goers, myself included, in tears from the get-go. Hearing the lyrics of the song live was an emotional experience for someone who has also struggled with mental health issues.
Hearing Capaldi sing about his own struggles and issues was both heartbreaking and reassuring in a way.
Most nights, I fear
That I'm not enough
I've had my share of Monday mornings when I can't get up
Knowing there's someone as famous as Capaldi speaking about mental health issues, raising awareness, and sparking conversations is comforting.
Whether it's through his lyrics or during one of his moving speeches during the show, Capaldi made his show a safe space for people to reflect, to think about their own mental health, and to take it seriously.
In a country so used to saying 'we're grand' no matter what the circumstance, Capaldi's gig reminded us that it's okay to step back, to take a break, because you'll always come back stronger.
Speaking to the crowd in Dublin, the Someone You Loved singer said performing in Ireland feels so comfortable for him, and it was evident throughout the set.
Capaldi kept the crowd entertained as he performed his impressive back catalog, including Wish You The Best, Before You Go, and Forget Me.
Lewis Capaldi will return to Dublin next summer with two major gigs at Marley Park.
