FINALLY!
So we’ve been waiting with baited breath to find out who would play Prince Eric ever since it was announced that The Little Mermaid was getting a live action remake.
Initially, there were rumours circulating about Harry Styles taking on the iconic role.
Well folks, the former One Direction member will not be playing a Disney prince any time soon.
Back in September, Harry opened up about the role, and how he won’t be taking part.
“But everyone involved in it was amazing, so I think it’s going to be great. I’ll enjoy watching it, I’m sure.”
But we do finally have an official Prince Eric.
Jonah Hauer-King will officially play the iconic prince, and we’re honestly delighted.
The newcomer who has starred in the films The Last Photograph and A Dog’s Way Home, will play the prince who enchants Ariel the mermaid.
Ariel will of course be portrayed by Halle Bailey.
We can’t WAIT!
And as for the other iconic characters, there are some really major stars in the mix.
Oscar-nominated actor Melissa McCarthy has been approached to play Ursula the sea witch (OH MY GOD PLEASE).
Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina have signed on to play Flounder and Scuttle, respectively.
So that’s going to be EPIC.
