Deserved, imo.

In today’s most unsurprising news, Lizzo has been named Entertainer of the Year at the NAACP Image Awards – which makes a lot of sense considering she is, indeed, the best and most entertaining entertainer of 2019.

The ‘Truth Hurts’ singer collected her award at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium last night.

Expressing her delight upon receiving the ceremony’s final and therefore most coveted award, Lizzo addressed her fellow beautiful black people, thanked the NAACP for allowing her to meet her heroes, and called Angela Basset The Entertainer, period.

Rightfully so.

“We are such a beautiful people, this is just a reminder of all the beautiful things that we can do,” she said. “Every last one of you, you are the award, we are so special. God bless you and keep on being an award.”

Also winning big at last night’s awards was Just Mercy, starring Michael B Jordan and Jamie Foxx.

The film picked up the awards for Best Motion Picture, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor.

“This project is a lot bigger than me,” said Jordan accepting his award. “It’s about every person that’s wrongfully convicted and sitting in a jail cell right now.”
