Love Island bosses have shortened the summer series by two weeks, according to reports.

The series will go from running for eight weeks to just six weeks.

It means that the 2020 summer series will be the shortest since Love Island 2016 – and that the summer version of Love Island will be the same length as the current winter series.

Broadcast was the first to report the news [via The Sun].

Love Island ran for six weeks after it returned to telly screens in 2015, as well as the 2016 season. However, following a massive surge in popularity, Love Island bosses increased it to eight weeks for 2017 – and it has stayed that length since.

It comes as the finale date for Love Island’s first winter series has been officially confirmed by ITV.

And it’s a lot sooner than we expected.

Yes, ITV announced that Love Island: The Live Final will be airing on Sunday, February 23 at 9pm.

That means that at 9pm a week from this Sunday, we’ll know who’s been named the latest King and Queen of Love Island.

But who is it going to be?

Finn and Paige and Luke T and Siannise have been firm frontrunners to win the series. But if we’ve learned one thing about Love Island over the years, it’s to expect the unexpected – so could a new bombshell enter the villa and sweep Shaughna off her feet? Will Luke M finally catch a break?
