Remember Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey starred in their series Newlyweds? Well it seems we may finally find ourselves engrossed by a version of the show this side of the pond.

Love Island’s Jessica Shears (23) and Dom Lever (26) are reportedly in talks to star in a Newlyweds show after they became engaged earlier this month after Dom filled their apartment with flowers and champagne before he got down on one knee.

The couple who met on ITV 2’s Love Island in June have moved pretty fast indeed, and are hoping to the knot next summer. According to Metro, TV chiefs are keen to have the ‘first Love Island wedding’ for all to see as it’s guaranteed to do well with viewers. The whole idea is for viewers to see all the prep, plus share the run-up to the wedding with the happy couple.

Love Island enthusiasts will be glued to their screens around the same time too, when the new season of the ITV 2 show finally arrives also. If these alleged plans are put into action we can expect some extreme eye candy - not just the couple - but someplace beautiful, exotic and sunny. Jessica told OK! magazine recently,

“We’d like to do it abroad, either in the south of France or somewhere in Greece, like Santorini. We don’t want a big wedding, I only want our close friends and family there because to me that’s what your wedding is all about.”

We'll have to wait and see what comes from all this specualtion but in the mean time, give us a Marcel and Gabby spin-off anyday!
