“A difficult time…”

There will be a tribute to Caroline Flack during tonight’s live Love Island final.

The presenter, who had hosted the show from 2015 to 2019, passed away in her home last week. She was 40 years old.

A source told Metro.co.uk that the show would be paying tribute to Caroline again as the series comes to an end.

“It seemed only right to pay tribute to Caroline at the end of this series, as the team as a whole come to terms with the loss,” they said.

“It’s been a difficult time for everyone behind-the-scenes of the show, and especially Iain and Laura, so this will commemorate Caroline, and everything she’s meant to the team.”

The tribute was also confirmed to the publication by Love Island representatives, who said that the islanders were informed of the presenter’s passing off camera.

“There will be a dedication to Caroline in tonight’s final episode,” they said. “The Islanders have been informed of the news of Caroline off camera ahead of the final.”

Love Island was taken off the air for two nights following Caroline’s passing. Upon returning, narrator Iain Stirling paid his own tribute to his friend and colleague.

“Caroline and me were together from the very start of Love Island and her passion, warmth and infectious enthusiasm were a crucial part of what made the show connect with millions of viewers,” he said.

“Like many of you, we are all just trying to come to terms with what happened. I only hope that we can be kinder, always show love and listen to one another.

“Caroline, I want to thank you for all the fun times we had making our favourite show, you were a true friend to me. I am going to miss you Caz.”

The final of Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media One.
