Love Island star Priya Gopaldas has donated her earnings to the NHS

Ellen Fitzpatrick

A kind heart.

She may have only done a short stint in the villa but Love Island’s Priya Gopldas still made a decent amount from her appearance.

The medical student and Covid nurse has revealed just how much she earned from her appearance on the show and exactly what she’s done with the money.

Taking home £750 after she was dumped from the island, Priya has told her Instagram followers that has donated the entire paycheck to the NHS.

The 23-year-old wrote: “Love Island pay cheque put to use.”

Sharing a screenshot of the donation as proof, she told fans that this was the money she had gotten from her time on Love Island.

And according to The Sun, anyone who appears on the series gets around £250 for each week they are on our screens.

While we would have imagined it be a lot more money to be on the show, it is said that the money given to the islander is to help them cover rent, bills and other expenses they have back home while they take up to two months off in the villa.

Priya is now in her fifth year of medical school at University College London and worked as a volunteer on a Covid ward earlier this year after students in her university were contacted asking if they could help with the rising hospital figures after Christmas.

Working six day weeks and 12 hour shifts, Priya said at the time: “‘I decided to throw myself in at the deep end and take on the challenge of a 12-hour night shift, despite having never done one before.

“I was shocked to see how ill the patients were. Most patients were intubated, ventilated, and sedated, needing round-the-clock monitoring and care.”
