A magical Christmas experience is coming to Royal Hospital Kilmainham

IMMA plans to bring the North Pole to Dublin this festive season.

The Irish Museum of Modern Art has announced an immersive family experience this Christmas as it plans to turn the gardens of Royal Hospital Kilmainham into a winter wonderland.

Guests will encounter sparkling lights and exciting performances , as well as witness captivating creatures throughout the garden – such as mischievous elves and the Snow Princess. And of course, kids will get to pay a visit to Santa himself.

Visitors will also get to experience live entertainment and activities at The People’s Pavilion, enjoy some amazing food and seasonal treats from The Flying Dog Cafe, and have a browse through the unique gifts at the IMMA shop.

The gardens will also host a ‘Festive Express’ train ride for passengers young and old.

The event is made even better by artistic interventions throughout the courtyard and a major exhibition celebrating 30 years of IMMA called The Narrow Gate of the Here-and-Now.

Annie Fletcher, Director of IMMA said:

“This winter something special is happening at IMMA. We are excited to welcome Santa who will sprinkle his magic on the gardens of the RHK to create an extraordinary experience for families, while artistic performances and events will be presented in our magnificent courtyard and galleries.

“As we continue to celebrate IMMA’s 30th birthday and build on the success of IMMA Outdoors, we are delighted to present an artistic festive experience unlike any other. I look forward to seeing the campus enlivened throughout the winter.”

The event runs for four weeks from 26 November to 19 December.

Children’s tickets are priced at €24 and children under 12 months are €6 each, while admission for accompanying adults cost €15 each. Tickets can be purchased here.

The price of admission include a hot chocolate on arrival, access to the Festive Express train, the Magic Garden Santa Experience and a gift from Santa.
