Maisie Williams on Arya Starks’s ‘beautiful’ final Game of Thrones scene

Keeley Ryan

The details of Game of Thrones‘ season 8 are Westeros’ most closely guarded secret since…well, just about forever.

And there’s still a fairly long wait to go, as the episodes aren’t expected to air until mid-2019.

Thankfully,  some of the cast are being a bit more chatty this year and are sharing insider information about what fans can expect.

Or, at least, what it was like filming their final scenes.

The latest one is Maisie Williams, who played Arya Stark – with the actress telling The Guardian about the “beautiful” ending for her character.

“I ended on the perfect scene.

“I was alone –- shocker! Arya’s always bloody alone. But I was alone and I had watched a lot of other people wrap. I knew the drill, I had seen the tears and heard the speeches.”

She explained that this season was “quite big” for her, which left her feeling like she had had enough of Westeros once Game of Thrones wrapped.

The actress added:

“I got to the end and I didn’t want more.

“I had exhausted every possible piece of Arya. And this season was quite big for me. I had a lot more to do. Mainly because there’s just less characters now, so everyone’s got more to do.”

The 21-year-old went on to set the record straight on how to pronounce her character’s name and…it wasn’t quite how we expected.

“It’s Arr-ya,” she clarified, before adding, “but I don’t like that, so I call her Arr-ee-ya.”
