A MAJOR Eighties pop group is reuniting at last

Bananarama are getting the band back together, announcing their first UK tour in 29 years.

Started in 1979 by friends Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey and Keren Woodward, ten of the group’s dance floor classics secured places in the top 10 during pop music’s greatest era, including Cruel Summer, It Ain’t What You Do and Venus.

They sold a whopping 40 million records worldwide.

Famous for their unusual vocal style (the members sang in unison rather than in harmony) Bananarama featured on the Band Aid single, “Do They Know It’s Christmas?,” and were the only artists to appear on both the original 1984 Band Aid and the 1989 Band Aid II versions.

Following Fahey’s departure from the group (she left to start Shakespeare’s Sister in 1988) Jacquie O’Sullivan joined for three years, helping the band remain in the UK Top 10 with hits such as Help! and I Want You Back.

Now, almost three decades later, they original band has reunited, with a tour of the UK planned for November and December 2017.

Sara told The Sun: “We first had a chat about it over Christmas and before we knew it the whole thing snowballed. Keren and I called Siobhan to chat about it and things went from there.”

“Emotionally it felt like something I needed to revisit, to go back to my roots and that time with my best friends.

“We’re going to go back and celebrate that extraordinary life we led together in our twenties.”
