Making A Murderer season two is coming to Netflix next month

Stop everything.

It probably wouldn’t be unfair to say that Making A Murderer changed the way we view true crime documentaries.

In that we’ve all become mildly obsessed with true crime documentaries since it first dropped on Netflix way back in 2015.

The series followed the wrongful conviction of Steven Avery, a man who was accused of raping and attempting to murder a woman in 1985.

Avery was sent to prison for the crime, eventually being released in 2003. But while he was attempting to sue Manitowoc county for wrongfully convicting him, he was charged with the murder of Teresa Halbach – a woman who was last seen near the Avery property.

The end of Making A Murderer season one left both Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey – also accused of playing a part in the murder – in prison, but with season two just around the corner, it’s likely that there’s going to be some substantial updates to the case.

Netflix revealed today that the series’ second season will be premiering on October 19 and honestly, we probably haven’t been as excited for something since we were told that Westlife were getting back together.

And that was a whole two days ago.

The teaser for Making A Murderer‘s second season features a voice recording of Avery saying that fighting for your innocence “takes time” so we can probably go ahead and assume that much of what’s to come will focus on Avery’s legal team and the work they’ve been doing to try and get him released from prison.

Making A Murderer executive producers, writers and directors Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos said:

“Steven and Brendan, their families and their legal and investigative teams have once again graciously granted us access, giving us a window into the complex web of American criminal justice.

“Building on Part One, which documented the experience of the accused, in Part Two, we have chronicled the experience of the convicted and imprisoned, two men each serving life sentences for crimes they maintain they did not commit. We are thrilled to be able to share this new phase of the journey with viewers.”

Can’t wait.

Making A Murderer season two will be available to stream on Netflix on October 19
