Nineties babies rejoice!

Netflix have acquired the rights to make a gender-bent version of the 1999 classic film She’s All That.

He’s All That, will premiere later this year, although Netflix have not confirmed a release date.

According to Deadline, Netflix spent $20 million in a deal with Miramax to acquire the rights to the film.

The upcoming feature will star Addison Rae, a TikTok superstar in the leading role. Cobra Kai’s Tanner Buchanan will play opposite Rae as the male lead.

Fans of the cult classic will be delighted to know that Rachel Leigh Cook – the original Laney Boggs  – will also have a featured role.

He’s All That will also star Madison Pettis, Peyton Meyer, Isabella Crovetti, Annie Jacob, Myra Molloy and Matthew Lillard.

In a twist, the gender-bent remake will be told from the perspective of Padgett Sawyer, a female version of Freddie Prinze Jr’s Zackary Siller.

In the original film, the heartbroken male lead accepts the challenge of transforming the dorky Lainey into the class prom queen within six weeks.

The 90’s film remains a staple of the teen genre. Fans hold it in high regard, right up there with Clueless and 10 Things I Hate About You.

In this new iteration, Padgett, a popular influencer, becomes determined to transform the nerdy Buchanan into the most popular boy in school.

While He’s All That’s female lead Addison Rae may be an unfamiliar name to many, the social media star is massive on TikTok. Rae is currently the second most followed individual on the platform, right behind Charlie D’Amelio.

Rae boasts over 78 million followers on TikTok and 36.7 million followers on Instagram. Her massive popularity on social media allegedly helped seal her casting.

Additionally, TikTok are also coming on board with production, though it’s unclear in what capacity.

He’s All That will be released on Netflix later this year.
