Mark-Paul Gosselaar has officially joined the cast of the Saved by the Bell reboot.

Last year, it emerged that iconic comedy was given a straight-to-series order on NBCUnviersal’s new streaming service, Peacock.

It will see Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley reprise their roles as A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano.

The series would explore what happens when California Gov. Zack Morris gets in trouble after closing too many low-income schools.

He ends up suggesting that the students who are affected be sent to the highest performing schools in California – which, in this case, would include Bayside High.

The new students give the privileged students of Bayside High a “much-needed and hilarious” reality check.

And plenty of rumours about whether or not whether or not Gosselaar would be taking part, it looks like fans have their answer.

The actor has signed on to be a producer of the reboot, according to Deadlineand will appear in at least three episodes.

Saved By The Bell ran for four seasons on NBC from 1989 to 1993. It led to two spin-off series – Saved by the Bell: The College Years and Saved by the Bell: The New Class – and two TV movies.

NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, will launch in April 2020. The original series’ will arrive in summer 2020.
