Ooh, we can’t wait for this.

Matilda the Musical is being turned into a Netflix movie, according to reports.

The stage show has been running in London’s West End since 2011, and has also had a run on Broadway.

But according to The Hollywood ReporterRoald Dhal’s iconic children’s novel is going to be headed to the screen once again – this time, via Netflix.

The publication reports that Sony is partnering with the streaming service on the film adaptation of the show, which will first hit theatres in the UK. It will then get a home release, before hitting the Netflix around the world.

The exact release details are said to be  being worked out between the companies.

The original Roald Dhal book follows Matilda Wormwood, the world’s most famous bookworm – no thanks to her ghastly parents.

Her father thinks she’s a little scab. Her mother spends all afternoon playing bingo. And her headmistress, Miss Trunchbull is the worst of all.

She’s a big bully, who thinks all her pupils are rotten and locks them in the dreaded Chokey. Despite these beastly grownups trying to push her down, Matilda is an extraordinary girl with a magical mind – and she’s finally standing up for herself.

The iconic book was previously adapted for a 1996 movie starring Mara Wilson, Danny DeVito, Pam Ferris and Embeth Davidtz.
