Melanie Hill Joins Coronation Street Cast

A familiar face is heading to the cobbles... According to Digital Spy Melanie Hill, who you may recognise from school drama Waterloo Road, will play newcomer Cathy Matthews in Coronation Street. Her character will strike up a friendship with Roy Cropper in an upcoming storyline after they meet on the allotment and bond over their personal losses. Speaking about the role, Melanie said: “I’m chuffed to bits to be joining the cast of my favourite soap. I and my family grew up watching it and to actually be working on it is a dream come true.” Her character will befriend Roy (image via ITV). Show producer Stuart Blackburn described Cathy as “engaging yet sometimes chaotic” but didn't say whether romance will blossom between her and Roy.
