Michelle Obama announces new podcast with Spotify

Yes, Queen.

Michelle Obama has announced a new podcast with Spotify, finally giving us something concrete to look forward to now that Louis Theroux’s own podcast has, tragically, ended.

The former First Lady will launch her podcast, aptly named The Michelle Obama Podcast, at the of July.

The series, exclusive to Spotify, will focus on relationships that can, and do, shape our lives, including those with siblings, friends, partners, parents, and mentors. The podcast will also consider the most important relationship of all – the connection to one’s self.

“My hope is that this series can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and sort through so many of the questions we’re all trying to answer in our own lives,” Michelle said.

“Perhaps most of all, I hope this podcast will help listeners open up new conversations — and hard conversations — with the people who matter the most to them. That’s how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another.”

Guests on Obama’s podcast will include Michelle’s mother Marian Robinson, her brother Craig Robinson, TV host Conan O’Brien and journalist Michele Norris.

“At Spotify we seek to connect listeners with the world’s most authentic and compelling voices,” said Dawn Ostroff, chief content and advertising business officer for Spotify.

“We believe that audiences across the globe will be inspired by these most candid, most human and most personal conversations between First Lady Michelle Obama and her guests.”

This comes just a few months after Obama released her own Netflix documentary: Becoming.

The film, directed by Nadia Hallgren, offered a rare and up-close look at Michelle’s life, taking viewers behind the scenes as she embarked on a 34-city book tour, focusing on the power of community and the importance of connection.

The Michelle Obama Podcast will be streaming on Spotify from July 29.
