RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing

“I want to be out there representing women of a certain age.”

Michelle Visage has been confirmed for this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race and former Ireland’s Got Talent judge said that she is “over the moon” to be appearing in the upcoming series of the show.

Visage, who has been judging performances for almost a decade via the US drag queen competition, will soon be facing the harsh words of the judging panel herself as she prepares to face the music on the Strictly stage.

But despite the pressure of it all, she has said that she’s “very excited” for the show to kick off.

“This is one show I’ve loved for years. I can’t wait to be dramatic and as amazing as I can be,” she told Lorraine.

“I’m a woman that’s 50 years old. I want to be out there representing women of a certain age.

“People say ‘They’re old, they can’t do it anymore’, but actually we can. We can do it great.”

Visage said that although the Strictly curse has been somewhat rampant over recent years, splitting up couples left, right, and centre, she isn’t at all worried that the same thing will happen to her.

“It makes me laugh that people think that’s a thing. So silly!” she said. “My husband of 22 years is the love of my life (…) It’s laughable is what it is.”

Tell that to Seann Walsh, Natasha Kaplinsky, Ben Cohen, Rachel Riley, Georgia May Foote, and Stacey Dooley.

Footballer David James, comedian Chris Ramsey, Emma Viscountess Weymouth, EastEnders star Emma Barton, YouTuber Saffron Barker, Catherine Tyldesley, Mike Bushell and CBBC star Karim Zeroual have already been confirmed for the latest series of the show.

Decent enough lineup so far, in fairness to them.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
