Just no. Where were you when Modern Family began? Probably sitting in front of the TV watching it unfold because online streaming didn't become a thing until a few years after. Wherever you were though, there was no denying that the beginning of Modern Family was the beginning of an era - something special that would take us through years and years of questionable comedy, never once faltering. Until now, because the show is about to kill off one of their major characters and we are absolutely not ready. According to the series's co-creator Christopher Lloyd, the show's last season is going to take a dark turn as the family deal with the loss of a loved one. And the death will be "significant." He told Entertainment Weekly:

"It’s not easy to do because that’s a heavy subject. But at the same time, it would seem unusual for a family not to go through it."

  Fair enough. After all, all we want from our lighthearted sitcom is a bit of dark realism at the end of the day. It was confirmed that the next season of Modern Family would be the last earlier this year, and while we don't know exactly who's going to be killed off before the show comes to an end, we can go ahead and assume that the whole thing is going to be rather bittersweet.
