Legendary The Rolling Stones saxophone player Bobby Keys has died at the age of 70.
Bobby Keys first worked with the Stones in the 1960s working on Live With Me from the album Let it Bleed. Keys is also well known for playing on the band's hit Brown Sugar and on John Lennon’s hit Whatever Gets You Thru the Night.
He played on other well-known albums including work by Eric Clapton, Barbara Streisand, Ringo Star and BB King to name but a few.
He played with the Stones up until the 14 On Fire tour before he took ill and could not make the Australian leg of the tour.
“The Rolling Stones are devastated by the loss of their very dear friend and legendary saxophone player, Bobby Keys,” a statement from the band posted online read. “Bobby made a unique musical contribution to the band since the 1960’s. He will be greatly missed.”
