Songs of Innocence is now available in 119 countries making it the biggest album release of all time according to Rolling Stone.
The album is apparently “rooted in the band’s early and lifelong influences including The Ramones, Bob Dylan and The Clash.”
This is not the first time the Irish group have partnered with Apple, having teamed up with them in 2004 with the release of a special edition iPod that had the four U2 band members’ signatures on it.
This latest partnership means that Songs of Innocene has become available to more than half a billion people online.
Speaking about the announcement, Apple CEO Tom Cook said it was “music history” and the “biggest release of all time.”
If you don’t have an iTunes account, get one before October 13th, as the album will only remain free until that date. After that, U2 will be releasing the album with other retailers.
