Looking to make a pretty penny? Better start banging out your festive tunes.

We never really think of royalties going to music artists when we listen to the same Christmassy songs every year. While there's a large variety of Christmas songs, there seems to be roughly always the same ones playing on the radio as they're so many people's favourite one. According to The Daily Mail however, the exact amount of money artists get every year because their songs are played again and again is quite astonishing. Your favourite song's revenue amount for the artist who sings it may leave your jaw dropping on the floor... The song Merry Christmas Everybody earns Slade a serious £500,000 every year, while Fairytale of New York makes Shane McGowan and the rest of The Pogues £400,000 a year. Mariah Carey with All I Want For Christmas Is You pockets a stellar £376,000 a year and White Christmas by Bing Crosby still receives £328,000. Last Christmas by Wham! collects £300,000 a year while Mistletoe and Wine by Cliff Richard earns the singer £100,000 every December. Christmas classic Stop The Calvary by Jona Lewie (my personal favourite) earns £120,000 and The Pretenders' 2000 Miles gets £102,000 - not too shabby at all. Is it any wonder Mariah always looks so happy? She's sitting on some sweet sweet stacks by the looks of things.
