As well as all the presents and Christmas-themed coffees, Christmas lights are another thing to look forward to during the build-up to the festive period.
But as much as we love the turning on of the lights in our own towns and cities, we have to admit that New York really does it with style.
This year, for the 80th annual ceremony, the city welcomed a number of big name stars for the event.
Although we’re not all that surprised that they needed a group of famous faces considering the size of the tree at the Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan.
As well as Rod Stewart and Mariah Carey, Cee-Lo Green and the Muppets turned up. (And there we were thinking we were only going to get to see them once this year on TV in The Muppet Christmas Carol.)
Now if we could ever bring ourselves to leave Ireland at Christmas, we think New York would have to be our destination!

Rod Stewart sang some of the songs from his new Christmas album.

Cee-Lo and the Muppets also performed at the event.
