Ed Sheeran has been crowned Spotify's most streamed artist of 2017.
The
Perfect singer, who beat out Drake, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar and The Chainsmokers for the top spot, also had the top track with
Shape of You and top album, with his recent LP ÷
.
The 26-year-old remains the music service's most streamed artist ever, with 47 million monthly listeners.
Spotify’s Chief Content Officer Stephen Bloom
said:
“Ed Sheeran absolutely dominated this year with the release of his record-breaking album, Divide.
“There is no doubt that 2017 was The Year of Ed Sheeran, and we are thrilled that so many millions of music fans have discovered, listened to, and shared his music on Spotify."
And while Ed may've held the title of top track of the year,
Despacito wasn't too far behind.
The remix featuring Justin Beiber, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee was the second most streamed song while the original version was the third most streamed song.
Elsewhere on the list, Rihanna landed the top spot on the list of most streamed female artists for the third year running.
Taylor Swift came in second, followed by Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Sia.
