Simon Cowell has hit back at Lily Allen after the singer took to Twitter to vent her anger at the fact that Simon's act Fleur East had sang Uptown Funk from an album that has not yet been released.
The singer vented her frustration on Twitter accusing record label Sony of “corruption” for using the song which comes from Mark Ronson’s unreleased album.
“Is this even out yet? #XFactor… Well done to @sony for managing to get a not yet released song of theirs sung on prime time weekend telly. #uptownfunk #shazam #airplay,” she tweeted.
“It is an amazing song and Fleur did it justice but it’s still a great example of music industry corruption. #uptown funk."
However, Simon Cowell has now responded to the 29-year-oold stating; “The irony is, I spoke to Lily about being a judge and from what I took from the meeting she was seriously considering it. Thank God I said no,” he told the Daily Mirror.
“Why not be happy for another artist and say congratulations instead of thinking of some conspiracy theory.”
Fleur’s performance topped the charts on iTunes and the song, by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars which had been available online for the last few weeks is now set to be released earlier than its original January 11th date following the success of her performance.
