Nadine Coyle in Derry Girls.

Actual Nadine Coyle.

No, we can’t believe it either.

Well, on some level we can because when you think of Derry you think of a few very specific things – one of those very specific things being Nadine Coyle’s passport and, by extension, Nadine Coyle.

The singer revealed today that she’s set for a role in the next series of the incredible Channel 4 sitcom and we are absolutely buzzing.

Nadine told the Irish Daily Star that she’s going to speak to the show’s creator, Lisa McGee, about getting her written into the series.

She said:

“Yes I’m going to speak to the writer about that.

“I’m going to call Lisa today actually, we’re sorting something out for the next series.”

Amazing.

The Girls Aloud star added that the school in Derry Girls is actually based on her own school, so she’s got a good few fairly specific memories about the place.

“It’s based on the same school I went to, the same Catholic school, so we have loads of similar experiences,” she said.

This comes after it was revealed that actress Nicola Coughlan, who plays Clare in the show, studied Nadine’s accent via YouTube in order to prepare for her own role in the series.

We’re assuming she simply watched this iconic clip over and over again, to be honest.

A Gemini, indeed.

Nadine was over in Dublin recently to launch TK Maxx’s ‘Give Up Clothes For Good’ campaign.

In aid of Enable Ireland, the campaign is encouraging people to donate clothes, accessories, and homeware in order to raise funds for children living with disabilities.

You can donate unwanted items at special collection points in TK Maxx stores.
