Nadine Coyle has shed light on the real reason Girls Aloud split up

And it wasn't because she lied about her age all those years ago on Popstars, alright?

Talk about the Girls Aloud feud has made its way back into the public thanks to Sarah Harding's appearance on this year's Celebrity Big Brother.  Over the course of the reality show, Sarah spoke candidly about her relationship with Cheryl and how the star apparently "planned" her pregnancy. Now, however, it's Nadine Coyle's turn to open out about her ex-bandmates, as she prepares to launch her new single, Go To Work, today.

Speaking to The Sun, Nadine said that the reason the band broke up was because the girls were "bitter" about the number of vocals Nadine was told to sing on their tracks.

"It was fine at the start but there’s always politics in any band. It just happened that I always got more vocals than everybody else, so in terms of people wanting their voice heard, that wasn’t happening.

It made people, very bitter. They didn’t like that."

The singer also added that it made her "so sad" to admit that that was the problem because fans always liked to believe that the girls were best friends.

"... You want everybody to think we’re best friends and we have pillow fights and, you know, drink milkshakes. That’s what I wanted it to be. I really, really wanted that to be, but it just wasn’t how it was. We’re all very, very different characters."

Girls Aloud split officially in 2013 on the last night of their 10 year anniversary tour. The band had enjoyed a decade of top 10 hits including the unforgettable Sound of the Undeground, The Show, Jump, and Biology.  They recorded five studio albums during their time together. Nadine released her first solo album, Insatiable, back in 2010. The 32-year-old is now signed to record label Virgin EMI who represent the likes of Taylor Swift, Lorde, and Katy Perry. Her new album is expected to drop sometime later this year.
