Y THO?

The Notebook is one of the most iconic love stories of our time.

It centres on Noah Calhoun and Allie Hamilton, a young couple who fall in love in 1940s America.

Allie is part of a very privileged family, while Noah comes from a humble background.

So naturally, Allie’s parents don’t approve of the relationship – and so a tumultuous love story spanning decades begins.

After years of turmoil and bad timing, the couple reunite, in one of the most glorious scenes in cinematic history.

Anyway, the reunion is something else, but it is the last scene of the film that will stay with you forever.

The story ends in a nursing home, with Noah and Allie passing away together in bed, holding hands after a long and happy life.

You’ll bawl crying, but they’ll be happy tears.

However, if you happen to watch The Notebook on Netflix, you’ll miss the wonderful and emotional ending entirely.

Why? Well, the streaming service seem to have cut the ending out.

Rather than showing the elderly couple dying side by side, the film simply cuts to birds flying over a lake before the closing credits hit the screen.

Missing the real ending to a real love story.

And as you can only imagine, people are less than impressed by this whole thing.

One Twitter user wrote:

“Just watched The Notebook on Netflix and they have cut the ending! What in the world, why would you cut a scene in which the nurse finds the two lovers have passed away in their sleep? What is going on, what have you done, what was wrong with that scene?!?! I’m outraged.”

Another said:

“I watched The Notebook on Netflix last night and they cut the ending of it short and I’m not one bit happy! Like I wanted a good boo f*cking hoo cry and they cropped out the saddest part.”
