Night in sorted.

Paul Moore

Lots of great titles to get stuck into.

It’s cold. It’s Friday. We know that you’re going to be binge-watching over the weekend. Lucky for you then that Netflix has added some absolute cracking titles.

Here’s the best of what’s in store.

In Bruges

Plot: Guilt-stricken after a job gone wrong, hitman Ray and his partner await orders from their ruthless boss in Bruges, Belgium, the last place in the world Ray wants to be.

Watch it because… It’s the finest dark comedy of the decade. They’re filming midgets!

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Plot: Scott Pilgrim must defeat his new girlfriend’s seven evil exes in order to win her heart.

Watch it because…Edgar Wright is a genius and there’s more creativity, one-liners and memorable music moments in this film than most.

Dark: Season 1

Plot: A family saga with a supernatural twist, set in a German town, where the disappearance of two young children exposes the relationships among four families.

Watch it because: Like Stranger Things mixed with Gone Baby Gone, this is your new Netflix addiction.  The TV show looks remarkable.

Voyeur

Plot: Legendary journalist Gay Talese unmasks a motel owner who spied on his guests for decades. But his bombshell story soon becomes a scandal of its own.

Watch it because… This documentary sounds genuinely unsettling.

Green Zone

Plot: Discovering covert and faulty intelligence causes a U.S. Army officer to go rogue as he hunts for Weapons of Mass Destruction in an unstable region.

Watch it because…. RPG! Greengrass and Damon have made better films, but there are moments of real tension and spectacle.

The Kingdom

Plot: A team of U.S. government agents are sent to investigate the bombing of an American facility in the Middle East.

Watch it because… It’s a hidden gem of a film. A rare actioner that combines thrills with brains.

Out of Africa

Plot: In 20th-century colonial Kenya, a Danish baroness/plantation owner has a passionate love affair with a free-spirited big-game hunter.

Watch it because… Seven Oscars and widely regarded as one of the best dramas of all time.

Devil

Plot:  A group of people are trapped in an elevator and the Devil is mysteriously amongst them.

Watch it because… It’s not the best horror of all time, but the plot is very clever.

Bridesmaids

Plot: Competition between the maid of honor and a bridesmaid, over who is the bride’s best friend, threatens to upend the life of an out-of-work pastry chef.

Watch it because… Kristen Wiig is a comedic tour de force.

Earlier this week, Netflix also released these excellent titles…

The Thomas Crown Affair

Plot: This remake of the 1968 classic showcases Pierce Brosnan as the titular billionaire who, for kicks, would rather steal works of art than buy them.

Monsters

Plot: Six years after aliens invaded Earth, a photographer is documenting a war-torn region when he’s interrupted by an unexpected rescue mission.
