Happy Christmas.

Netflix is set to increase its subscription cost for customers in Ireland.

The streaming giant, which has undoubtedly become even more popular this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, is due to increase its monthly charge for the third time in three years.

According to the Irish Times, Netflix’s standard subscription, allowing users to view content on two screens at the same time, will increase by €1 to €12.99

Similarly, the premium subscription plan, allowing users to watch on four screens at the same time, is set to increase by €2 to €17.99.

Netflix’s basic plan will remain at €7.99 per month. A spokesperson confirmed the change to the publication this week, stating:

“Our price change reflects the significant investments we’ve made in new TV shows and films, as well as improvements to our product. Our basic membership will remain at the same price ensuring as many people as possible can enjoy our content.”

This price increase is due to be announced formally later this week.

Netflix, which has almost 200 million subscribers in 190 countries, recently revealed its offering for December, with eagerly anticipated series such as Bridgerton and a whole host of festive films being added to the platform.

ET and Jurassic Park are among the classics due to land on the streaming platform later this month.
