Netflix release a recap of all the big events from Season 1 of You ahead of the new series

Paul Moore

Perfect revision ahead of Season 2 arriving soon. Now your partner has no excuse not to watch it…

We’re extremely reluctant to distill Caroline Kepnes’ novel You into a few simplistic bullet points and generalities, but we’ll give it a shot.

There’s a girl named Guinevere Beck, an aspiring writer, who’s a bit annoying. She walks into a book store in the East Village where Joe Goldberg works.

Joe’s charming and friendly. Joe’s instantly smitten with her. Joe’s also a massive psychopath that stalks her.

Ultimately, after learning about her dating past, he gets really jealous of her ex boyfriend and locks him away. Meanwhile, Joe and Beck start riding. Joe’s really bad at it, but they fall in love.

Creepy behaviour, riding, violence. Creepy behaviour, riding, violence. This cycle kind of goes on for a while.

However, in terms of its cultural impact, Joe has somehow become a massive sex symbol to some people. Yeah, it’s all a bit weird.

Oh yeah, there’s also a scene with him masturbating on the street.  Again, it’s all a bit weird.

The dialogue is cheesy as hell, the plot is pure trash, it’s very sexy. You can see why it’s a massive hit.

Well, with Season 2 set to land on Netflix on St. Stephen’s Day, the online streaming giant have the perfect recap for anyone that may have forgotten what unfolded in the first season.

While we’re reluctant to tell you too much about Season 2, trust us when we say that Season 2 of You is considerably better than what came before it.

If you need a reminder of Joe’s antics, this should do the trick.
