Looking for something to watch this weekend?

Well, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered: Netflix’s docuseries, Dogs, has arrived.

The series follows six amazing stories through the globe, including Syria, Japan, Costa Rica, Italy and the US—each one proving that the unconditional love one feels for their dog is a beautiful universal truth.

The first episode, directed by Heidi Ewing, follows an 11-year-old girl who suffers from traumatic seizures, and her certified service dog, Rory.

The second episode follows a man named Ayham, who flees a war-torn Syria and risks everything to bring his dog, Zeus, across the border to Lebanon.

Other episodes focus on an Italian fisherman who relies on his four-legged friend to be a partner in the business; two world-renowned dog groomers who fly from Japan to California so that they can compete in the ultimate grooming competition; and the folks who work at Territorio de Zeguates, a shelter in the Costa Rican rainforest that houses thousands of dogs.

The final episode follows each step of the dog adoption process through Hearts and Bones, a charitable organisation, as not rescues dogs from a kill shelter and brings them to New York for better lives.

Creator of the series, Glen Zipper, told Variety

“Dogs don’t just make us feel loved, dogs make us feel safe. In the world we live in today, no matter how divided we are, we should take care to realise how much dogs mean to all of us, and how our bond with them can help bring us together.”

All six episodes of dogs are available to stream on Netflix now.
