Netflix’s post-apocalyptic comedy Daybreak will not be returning for season two.

The series, which debuted in October, was described as being “part samurai saga, part endearing coming-of-age story, and part Battle Royale.”

Daybreak co-creator Aron Coleite revealed on Twitter that they had learned last week that the series wouldn’t be returning for season two.

“We learned last week that Daybreak will not be returning for a second season,” he said in a statement.

“We’re so sorry we couldn’t share it with you sooner but also grateful that we got to hang out in these last few live tweet sessions with all of you.

“Thank you for picking up what we put down, for running with it in all of your amazing, weird, monstrous ways and for being such an important part of this show and our experience making it.

“No one is as heartbroken as we are that we can’t share more of this ride with you. But we’re so grateful to have gotten to bring it this far.

“Thank you for riding with us, for your voices, for your enthusiasm, your memes, your fart jokes, and your unashamed crazy. We’ll see you out there.”

The entire season of Daybreak is currently available on Netflix. The “post-apocalyptic, genre-bending series” is set in the city of Glendale, California.

The city is populated by marauding gangs of jocks, gamers, the 4-H Club, and other fearsome tribes who are kicking ass as they fight to survive in the wake of a nuclear blast (on the night of Homecoming, too).

Following an eclectic group of survivors as they navigate this strange and treacherous world, Daybreak is part samurai saga, part endearing coming-of-age story, and part Battle Royale.
