Netflix’s Virgin River has been renewed for a second season

Netflix’s Virgin River has been renewed for a second season.

The first season of the romantic drama, based on the Virgin Rivers novels by Robyn Carr, premiered earlier this month.

Virgin River follows Melinda “Mel” Monroe, who answers an ad to work as a nurse practitioner in the remote California town of Virgin River thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind.

But she soon discovers that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected and that she must learn to heal herself before she can truly make Virgin River her home.

And taking to social media on Friday, Netflix announced that the show would be back for season two.

Alexandra Breckenridge – who plays Mel – starred in the video announcement, alongside Martin Henderson, who plays local restaurant bar owner and former U.S. Marine Jack Sheridan.

The video shows the pair wishing everyone a happy holiday season from the set of Virgin River season two – which they confirmed would be out in 2020.

“I hope you all enjoy it as much as you loved season one. Thanks to everybody who watched the show, I’m so glad you like it,” Henderson added.
