Pubs around the world will also be going green this St Patrick’s Day.

Guinness is hosting a virtual event to mark St Patrick’s Day this year featuring a varied programme of Irish entertainment headlined by Niall Horan.

Set to be broadcast from O’Donoghue’s pub in Dublin and shown live around the world on Youtube, Guinness say ‘The Best of the Pub’ event will be “a global celebration of all the elements that combine to make the pub magic”.

As part of it, the One Direction man will perform an unplugged intimate set, complete with some surprises, live from his local, The Toucan in London’s Soho Square.

Another guest for The Best of the Pub is Nigerian-Irish poet and performance artist Felispeaks, who will perform a new, specially commissioned piece that aims to capture “the evocative and scintillating storytelling” only possible in the perfect pub.

During the event, Guinness beer ambassadors will also be on hand to help those enjoying a pint of plain at home master the perfect pour, while Irish chef Marcus O’Laoire will show viewers how to craft the ultimate Guinness cheese toastie.

Guinness Global Brand Director Grainne Wafer said in a statement: “Guinness is proud to bring the magic of the pub to people’s homes as we look forward to being back in the local with friends for laughter, craic and a cold, smooth Guinness when government restrictions are eased.”

The iconic drinks brand are also running a ‘Guinness Global Pub Greening’ event which will see them joining in with Tourism Ireland’s Global Greening to help pubs around the globe turn green this St. Patrick’s Day.

Pubs everywhere from Dublin to Derry, the Himalayas to Surfer’s Paradise and more will be taking part, as will Guinness’ many sites across the world.

Guinness is also encouraging people to show their love for their local by sharing images of their favourite pub on social media with #BestOfThePub.

You can check out the Guinness Global Pub Greening on the Guinness Europe Youtube Channel, while The Best of the Pub will be broadcast live on Youtube at 5.59pm on 17 March.
