It’s all happening!

After months of confusion and speculation, we finally have an official start date for the upcoming season of Love Island.

Virgin Media have announced that the hugely popular reality show will be returning to our screens on Monday 28 June, which is less than two weeks away.

The official Love Island Instagram page shared the wonderful news this morning.

“A hot date for your diary,” they wrote under a snap of the time and date. “#LoveIsland returns to ITV and ITV Hub on Monday 28th June.”

Irish audiences, however, will be able to watch the show exclusively on Virgin Media One.

Fans of the show will no doubt be delighted for the dating competition to make its triumphant return. Last year, the summer season was cancelled amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, fans have been worried that travel restrictions could impact this year’s show. Numerous sources reported that the reality dating show may take place in sunnier spots in the UK to get round any possible travel restrictions.

However, those worries are quickly dissipating. It won’t be long now until we meet the fresh batch of couples and settle down for a summer of love.

Last week, the show’s host Laura Whitmore gave fans a snippet of what to expect from a teaser trailer. She posted the short video to her Instagram with the caption, “You ready?”

It’s safe to say we’ve never been more ready, Laura.

Love Island returns to Virgin Media on Monday 28 June at 9pm.
