Keeley Ryan

release date for toy story 4

It’s one of the most beloved animated movie franchises.

And there’s no denying that since the opening moments with You’ve Got A Friend in Me playing, Toy Story has had a lasting impact on many, many lives.

The original movie went (to infinity and) beyond expectations when it was first released in 1995, grossing more than $373 million worldwide.

Since then, the franchise has grossed almost $2 billion worldwide – and that’s before the fourth movie even comes out.

Basically, the series has been a huge part of our lives for the last…23 years).

Which is why we were particularly excited to find out that Toy Story 3 is on tonight.

The movie follows Woody, Buzz and the other toys who accidentlly end up in a daycare centre when their owner grows up.

At the start, it seems like it’s the perfect new home for them – but when they realise the dangers lurking under the surface, they begin to formulate an escape plan.

And it includes one of the most heartbreaking animated scenes…well, just about ever.

The most recent instalment in the beloved Pixar movie stars characters voiced by Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Michael Keaton and Ned Beatty.

  • The animated movie begins at 6:35pm on RTÉ One.
