Did you think this was bad form?
First Dates Ireland can be a cruel watch, especially when things don’t work out for a pair of daters you thought were ideal for each other.
One couple we were rooting for on Tuesday night’s episode was Jamie and Anthony.
Welshman Jamie was very frank during his date and shared his experience of homophobic bullying with Anthony, giving us all a lesson in how to deal with ignorance.
“I got queer-bashed quite a few times,” he said of coming out as gay at 16.
“Just smile and laugh, always smile and laugh. Yeah punch me again, hit me harder. What are you proving by doing it?
“I’m just making you look stupid. It hurt the next morning but on a principle level and a mindset level, they achieved nothing by doing that.
“Actually, I could stand there and say, ‘You didn’t really hurt me in the grand scheme of things.'”
His inner strength and honesty won us all over at home and things looked to be going well for Jamie and Anthony.
Jamie settled the bill but when it came down to the crunch, Anthony admitted he wasn’t interested in a second date and viewers were not having it.
Letting someone pay for your meal when you’ve no intention of a second date is bad form. #FirstDatesIrl

Mr Canada!! You were on my good side until you played the ‘you pay but I’m giving nothing away’ card. Rude. #FirstDatesIrl #canadont pic.twitter.com/MqTvQkJ8W6

Anthony could have at least offered to split the bill #FirstDatesIRL

Biggest pet peeve on #FirstDatesIRL is when those assholes let their date pay when they have no intention of going on a second date … #PayYourWay

It’s not all bad news though as in an update on Twitter last night, Jamie revealed that he’d started seeing someone else.
“I had an amazing time,” he said. “It was a really good life memory.”
Since the restaurant, friendship blossomed between a new set of besties, and one dater is now seeing someone new. ?
For this week’s dater update, we caught up with Jamie, Mila, Michaela and Amy. #FirstDatesIRL pic.twitter.com/vSYtoaBD1X
