One man believed he was in a relationship with Katy Perry for SIX years

He wasn't impressed with the truth...

How did this ever happen?

In today’s world, you can be shocked by anything and everything.

With the internet and the wildfire spread of social media, people tend to be naive and believe what they see on the first impression.

One man was unfortunately the victim of naivety and believed what he was told, spending lots of money on a relationship which turned out to be entirely fake.

American man Spencer Morrill appeared on MTV’s Catfish show to talk about his six-year relationship with the Rise singer which understandably boggled the minds of presenters Nev Schulman and Max Joseph.

The ‘boyfriend’ to Katy admits to spending 25% of his savings on an engagement ring for the 31-year-old singer, carving out an emerald from his grandmother’s ring to make it extra special.

After sending hundreds and hundreds of messages to the star, the only real contact Spencer had with her was a phone call which set him back $270.

Presenters of the hit MTV show had a serious job trying to explain that the Katy he was talking to was in fact, a British woman called Harriet from Gloucester.

People took to Twitter to voice their shock over Spencer’s unfailing faith in meeting Katy.
