This Oscar-winning movie is on the telly tonight and we’ll DEFO be watching

Orlaith Condon

The four-time Oscar winner is on tonight.

Sunday nights are meant for movies and munch in front of the fire and while we usually turn to Netflix for something to watch, sometimes the TV listings throw up some killer options.

Tonight’s schedule is the perfect example.

Four-time Oscar-winning film Birdman is on the telly tonight and if you haven’t watched it before, then you definitely should tonight.

The movie tells the story of a faded movie star (played by Michael Keaton) who was famous for his role in a series to superhero movies 20 years previously and tries to reclaim his artistic integrity by directing and starring in a Broadway play.

“The experience plunges him into a personal crisis as both the production and his own family are beset by a series of disasters,” reads the TV listings.

The movie has an all-star cast alongside star Michael Keaton including Edward Norton, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts.

The movie earned huge praise for the way it was shot; in a single shot except for one brief scene.

The film walked away with four Oscar awards at the 87th Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography.

Birdman is on RTÉ2 at 9pm tonight.
