The folks at Paramount are not happy about the recent announcement that there’s an “It’s a Wonderful Life” sequel in the works.
A studio spokesperson said that the film studio would fight the proposed follow-up to the Christmas classic as the company who’ve announced the sequel have not obtained rights to their production.
“No project relating to It's A Wonderful Life can proceed without a license from Paramount,” the studio said in a statement.
Plans for the proposed production were announced on Monday by Star Partners and Hummingbird Productions for the sequel, “It’s a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story.”
"To date, these individuals have not obtained any of the necessary rights, and we would take all appropriate steps to protect those rights" continued the statement.
The producers have already lined up Karolyn Grimes, who played George Bailey’s daughter Zuzu in the original film and it was planned for her to reprise her role.
The film was set for a 2015 release.
