Production is already underway.

It’s been two years since McDreamy walked through the halls of Grey Sloane Memorial – and off television screens altogether.

But now Patrick Dempsey is set to make a return to the small screen.

The actor has signed on for the lead role in Epix’s straight to series adaptation of the best selling novel, The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair, according to the Hollywood Reporter

He will take on the lead role of Harry Quebert, a literary figure who gets accused of murdering a young girl after her body was found on his property.

The drama, produced by MGM Television also features Ben Schnetzer as Harry’s mentee Marcus Goldman, who ends up working to try and solve the mystery.

The investigation ends up coming Goldman’s next book.

Patrick Dempsey’s 11 season run as Dr Derek ‘McDreamy’ Shepherd came to an end in April 2015 when his character was killed in a car crash.

He told People at the time:

“It had been long enough. It was time for me to move on with other things and other interests.

“I probably should have moved on a couple of years earlier.

“I stayed a bit longer than I should have.”
