Penn Badgley basically just confirmed You season three is happening

Jade Hayden

Hardly surprising really, is it?

A mere four days ago, You season two landed onto our Netflix screens.

Full of murder, mischief, and musing about whether it’s ever OK to be attracted to a serial killer (it’s not), the season delivered all that we had so desperately begged it to.

And while many people probably have yet to get to the dramatic end of the series (spoilers ahead, if not), it turns out that we appear to already have a bit of confirmation that season three is, in fact, a-go.

All thanks to star Penn Badgley. Cheers, mate.

The actor, who plays the murderous, love sick, and entirely messed up Joe Goldberg, recently chatted to Entertainment Tonight all about the Netflix’s show’s latest season, its shock ending, and what’s next for Joe and Love.

The final episode of season two saw Love, played by the wonderful Victoria Pedretti, kill Joe’s ex Candace in cold blood, before admitting that she also killed Delilah to ensure Joe’s safety.

So yes, she is seemingly just as crazy as he is. Love to see it.

And while the final scene of the season shows Joe lurking around some other poor unsuspecting woman’s back yard while a heavily pregnant Love wanders about in the background, there was always the chance that a season three – despite being literally set up for us – wasn’t going to happen.

It is though. So hooray.

“She doesn’t appear to be the same kind of person,” said Badgley while discussing Love’s development over season two.

“She doesn’t appear to be the same kind of predator. She doesn’t appear to be the same kind of… you know, dare I say, in the third season – oh, god!”

Third season, indeed.

Desperately trying to suggest that he doesn’t know anything about a season three at all, Badgley go on: “Technically I can’t… I mean, like, unofficially?”

We’ll take an unofficial any day.
