He's made it.

Niall Horan

Lots of deadly people have come out of Mullingar.

Joe Dolan, Bressie, and even Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary all hail from the Westmeath town, therefore making it one of Ireland’s most exciting spots for fresh, new talent.

Niall Horan may not have had to put Mullingar on the map, but he certainly made a lot of people proud to be from there. He’s only won six Brit awards, 11 Europe Music Awards, and 28 Teen Choice Awards as part of One Direction, after all.

Niall Horan

To show their appreciation for Niall, Mullingar residents are banding together to give him the ultimate gift – having a laneway named after him.

A group of locals took to Facebook during the week to try and make ‘The Niall Horan Way’ become a reality.

They emphasised that Niall has always said how proud he was to be from Mullingar, referencing the fact that he wrote a song about the town and is always talking about where he’s from.

“Niall is obviously very proud of his hometown that he wrote a song about Mullingar for his debut single called This Town which went Platinum in 2016.”

“It’s fair to say, that at any given chance, Niall always speaks about his beloved Mullingar. As any a person would say, everybody knows where Mullingar is now, it’s the home town of Niall Horan.”

The laneway in question links Oliver Plunkett Street to Blackhall. Locals are encouraging others to contact their county council representatives to make The Niall Horan Way a reality.

We’re sure Niall’d be only delighted.
