The person rumoured to replace Vincent Browne is not who we expected

A very different direction.

As Vincent Browne hangs up his TV3 hat, all everyone wants to know is who is taking over. The likes of Ivan Yates has been linked to the role, as well as some RTÉ Radio One presenters. But, the latest person rumoured to be filling his shoes is the last person we expected. TV3 are apparently trying to get Brendan O'Connor to move from RTÉ for the role. Furthermore, they want to turn it into a chat show. A source told The Sun:

"Brendan O’Connor is the only person TV3 have approached to replace Vincent. It would make absolute sense as well as box-office TV. Who wouldn’t tune in to see Brendan O’Connor every night? We don’t know if Brendan is going to come on board but it has reached the point of decision."

We know that Brendan is lined up to host The Cutting Edge on RTÉ in the autumn so it's highly unlikely that this will happen but we'll just have to wait to find out.
