If you watched First Dates last year, you'll probably remember Phil Penny from Tallafornia. 

He was the lad who showed up and told his date she had a "nice little hoop" after admitting that he creeped on her when she got up to the bathroom. Phil later defended his actions by saying that he's just a "lad's lad" who likes going to the pub and playing football. Sound. Surprisingly, and despite the hoards of backlash he received when his date aired on RTE 2 last year, Phil has decided he wants another shot at love... and at trying to prove he's actually not the biggest dick on the planet. C'mon Phil, we're rooting for you, mate. Next week, Phill will go on a date with Rachel in a bid to prove that he is, indeed, the gentleman that he so vociferously claimed to be on the Nicky Byrne Show last year. https://twitter.com/RTE2/status/1097076534500909056 His date at the time, Amy-Maria, said that she felt the ex reality star was "derogatory towards women." The mother-of-one added that at one stage during the date she walked away because she thought the whole scenario must have been "a wind-up." Grim. At the time, she said:

"I put myself out there which was a really big thing to do, and then it just turned into a joke. "It disgusted me. I felt like he was just playing a role."

Phil's (new) date will air on First Dates Ireland this Thursday at 9:30 on RTE 2.
