A post-apocalyptic sci-fi TV series starring Barry Keoghan is in the works

Is it 2020 yet, or?

If you haven’t been privileged enough to witness Barry Keoghan’s genius yet, you have been missing out my friend.

He’s been in The Killing of a Sacred Deer, he’s been in Dunkirk, he’s been in Black ’47 and ’71 and Rebellion and even Fair City.

And he’s given absolutely harrowing, intense, and genuinely inspired performances in every single one.

Essentially, Barry Keoghan is a talent and we are only delighted that we get to claim him as one of our own.

And while the Dublin lad has been spending a lot of his time in Hollywood films as of late, he’s about to take the plunge into the ever intense world of television… in the form of a post-apocalyptic sci-fi series.

Hyped.

Based on the comic book of the same name, Y: The Last Man focuses on a lad named Yorick Brown and his pet monkey as they navigate a world in which every male mammal has been wiped out by a mysterious plague.

Or, in other words, everything with a Y chromosome.

The series will follow Keoghan as the title character as he wanders the desolate landscape populated only by himself and every woman who presumes that the world is now doomed for extinction.

Keoghan was linked to the project back in July, but he recently confirmed that the show was in the works via Twitter, sharing an image of a dark figure walking among a sea of male bodies.

Y: The Last Man is being produced by FX and is set for release next year.
